Lady Cable Boat Trip

We have been chosen as a Pilot school to aid in a bid to restore The Lady Cable. The Lady Cable was the last of the little ships to leave Dunkirk after helping to save the British Expeditionary Force which was penned in by the German forces. Two groups have taken voyage (on a fishing boat) to learn how Torbay was impacted during the Second World War and the key support it provided in keeping the country safe. They were very worthwhile trips with the children (and Staff) learning about the major part Torbay and its inhabitants played in the World Wars. We’re hoping our participation will play a part in raising the funds needed to restore this famous Dunkirk Little Ship.
Ponies inspiring people

This half-term a small group of pupils from Year 7 to 10 have been taking part in a project learning how to care and train Dartmoor ponies. Every Monday for 2 hours they have been taught how to turn the animals, lead, catch and groom them. The project has been set up by the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust and its overarching aim is to work with pupils promoting self-esteem and improving self-confidence.

School allotment development - February 2009
Since taking over the allotment last year we have finally begun to see some real changes taking place as a result of lots of hard work. The allotment we were given had not been used for over 20 years and to finally prepare the soil for planting last week was a big achievement. See more of our allotment here.
