Developments at the school allotment – February 2009
Since taking over the allotment last year we have finally begun to see some real changes taking place as a result of lots of hard work. The allotment we were given had not been used for over 20 years and to finally prepare the soil for planting last week was a big achievement.

Into the planting beds we have put lots of fruit bushes which should start to produce fruit for the end of the summer. We are also preparing an area for potatoes and winter veg. We have created, with the help pf Mr Lanyon, a domed area that will be covered in willow. This will act as a shelter for those hot summer days and also as a outdoor classroom.

There are lots of plans for the site and one that is being worked upon at the moment is the development of a picnic / study area. This site is being cleared and levelled and will be the area where we will be installing a weather station after Easter.
