Subjects - Design Technology

Primary
The Primary pupils have looked at and worked with a range of resistant materials, using acrylic to make key rings, MDF to make a string puppet, Vacuum forming to make a model car and have recently visited Paignton Community and Sports College to watch their own designs being cut out engraved on a laser cutter.

Year 7
Year 7 pupils have looked at a variety of materials and processes using MDF, acrylic, HIPS to produce a number of products including model cars, boats and key rings.

Year 8
Year 8 Pupils have looked at some mechanisms to make an air driven, propeller vehicle. They have used wood and MDF to make tables and are now improving their measuring and cutting skills to make a small wooden box. Year 8 have also designed and made a range of CD holders.

Year 9
Year 9 pupils began the year by making tables and then moved on to using copper and Powdered glass to make and enamel a decorative dish, some copper enamel key rings and other trinkets. They are currently improving their measuring and cutting skills to make small wooden boxes.

Year 10
Year 10 began the year making a hinged and lined wooden box and after a successful trip to Bovey Tracey Craft centre to look at enameling, they designed and made enameled copper and glass trinkets and dishes. They have now started work on their Portfolio and project to be submitted to the exam board in year 11. Projects range from a highly decorative floor standing candle holder, jewellery box, display stand to TV stands and Dove Cote

Year 11
Year 11 Pupils have been working on their coursework projects for submission to the examination board. Products made were very varied, a petrol Go-Kart, Electric Guitar, table football, shelves and tables. Some of which were finished to a very high standard.
